Birthday celebration ends with DUI charges

Florida drivers are likely aware that driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is against the law and can result in serious charges. Sometimes, drivers may not be thinking clearly because they have something else on their mind. Recently, a young man was excited to be out with friends celebrating his birthday when an accident left him facing charges of DUI

Deputy to be fired amid DUI allegations

Florida residents may be familiar with a popular television series that gives viewers a first-person view of police officers on duty. Viewers tune in each week to see officers respond to calls, enforce the law and help people in need. Though certainly, police officers are often the first representatives of law enforcement, officers themselves are not immune from prosecution. One officer who appears on such a show is being fired amid allegations of DUI

Florida drivers would probably agree that it is a good idea to make an effort to avoid drinking and driving. DUI laws vary from state to state, and it can sometimes be difficult to gauge how close a driver is to the legal limit. Many times, drivers may feel as if they are perfectly capable of operating a vehicle, and they do not suspect they are intoxicated by legal standard.

Driver misunderstood DUI laws

Florida drivers are likely aware that it is against the law to drink and drive. Though this is considered to be basic knowledge, many drivers may not truly understand the meaning of DUI laws. Even those who are not aware they are breaking the law can still be charged with a crime if law enforcement alleges they have violated the law.

Asking for directions leads to DUI arrest

Florida residents can likely recall a few occasions when they found themselves in need of driving directions. It is always nice to come across a helpful individual who can point one in the right direction. Recently, a local man found himself unsure of how to reach his destination, and asked a police officer to assist him. Unfortunately, instead of heading to his destination, he was soon headed to jail, facing DUI charges.
